Mar SAINSBURY'S BAGPACK NETS GREAT RETURN

On behalf of our resident 'Bag lady' (Sharon Mitchell) the club would like to say a massive thanks to the volunteers who gave up part of there Sunday to pack shopping at Sainsbury's. We are delighted to report that for 6hrs of effort we managed to raised a fantastic sum of £743 - BRILLIANT.  This will be put straight into the club Building & Courts improvement fund where it is intended to be put forward for our new courts and Mini Zone plans.

Further Bag Pack Announced: We have been offered the chance to pack at Morrisons (Giffnock) on the 30th April. We will again be looking for volunteers and hope that the members can give an hour or two to help raise funds for the club.

CLARKSTON ACHIEVES TOP 'CLUBMARKS'

This month Clarkston Tennis Club's very handsome Tennis Captain (Iain Coventry) was delighted to receive the plaque & certificate which confirmed Clarkston Tennis Club's great acheivement in being  awarded ' Tennis Clubmark' by the LTA. Presented by Tennis Scotlands Development Manager (Mike Cohen) it marks the culmination of a significant amount of time and effort which went into securing this award and it is credit to the tennis committee and there efforts that this has been achieved.

WHAT IS TENNIS CLUBMARK?

Achieving Tennis Clubmark means that the LTA have approved and supports the tennis programmes that we deliver on court and the policies and procedures that we have in place off court. The LTA believes that achieving high standards in these areas is crucial in ensuring that your club is managed effectively and that we provide a safe environment for junior members to enjoy and play tennis. Achieving Tennis Clubmark shows that our Club programmes, policies and procedures are all in line with best practice.

WHAT DOES CLUBMARK MEAN TO CLARKSTON TENNIS CLUB?

Gaining Clubmark is a huge positive for our club and makes us one of the few clubs in the area, even Scotland to gain this prestigious approval from the LTA.  Having Tennis Clubmark status will help us in other ways too:

  • By encouraging and attracting young tennis members we will ensure a strong future.
  • By providing opportunities for everyone and giving parents the peaces of mind that they have chosen a club whose practices and standards have been verified by an external body we will increase confidence.
  • By having access to assistance with staff development for both coaches and volunteers we will improve the services offered by the club to its membership
  • By increasing our profile with listing on a national database and in other directories we will attract new members
  • By having access to funding; many external funding bodies now stipulate that clubs they work with must have Clubmark

As well as being a quality accreditation for our policies, procedures and club management it means that we are actively delivering appropriate tennis opportunities to players of all abilities, providing regular competitive programmes (especially for juniors), ensuring the well-being of young tennis players, empowering players to enjoy tennis, perform to the best of their ability and that we are identifying and supporting the development of the most talented tennis players.
